Every year I notice a lot of Americans getting really frustrated with the challenges that the greatest beer fest in the world presents to the weekend visitor. Through July I will be posting a series of insider tips I've learned over the last 3 years I have visited the festival. Some basic knowledge of the ins and outs can mean the difference between being stuck outside in the cold/rain/no-fun zone and having the time of your life in the best beer tent of the festival.
The first thing I'll tell you is that the last weekend (this year the 3rd and 4th of Oct.) of Oktoberfest is the very best time to go.
Secondly, Don't waste your time trying to get into Hofbrau. Hacker-festzelt and Schottenhamel are the cream of the crop. And certainly don't waste your time partying outside a tent. Inside is where you want to be.
Check back later for a ton of info I'll be posting, like how to insure you get into a tent and you get a seat. I look forward to seeing some happy American's and all other first-timers partying their butts off.
